Conferences & Seminars

Baan Hom Samunphrai is an ideal location for groups up to 15 who want to work with their own leaders or teachers. Although we are located in a rural area and are surrounded by beautiful countryside, we don’t pretend to be a mountain retreat, Spa or Resort Hotel –we’re just 9 kms from the centre of a bustling Asian city, after all, while at the same time in a small rural village. Of course we appeal to groups that work best in quiet, natural and harmonious surroundings, but our sort of people also know they need real life to keep them whole. And Baan Hom Sammunphrai is very simple and very real.

We offer old wooden farmhouses with small but comfortable private  bedrooms with overhead fans. Our rooms and work spaces are well screened but there is no air-conditioning anywhere except when necessary during the Hot Season in our new Training Sala. We offer three healthy meals a day  as well as tea, coffee and fruit, and most importantly unstinting attention from our staff — all for 1800 baht (c. $50.00) per person per day.

Transportation, steam baths, and massages are not included, but we are pleased to quote special package arrangements including  steam baths and treatments. We can also provide full seminar facilities for up to 15 at modular tables (see above) and can arrange any other type of work space for meeting together or doing things. Wifi is free everywhere, and we also provide copy facilities along with flip charts and white boards. Meals can be buffet, served at the table or even, on special occasions, mats outside in the garden. More than half the dishes on our table are vegetarian, and we do our very best to accommodate special diets.

At our Big Table:

In the following photos (top left to right) we are feeding a large Taiwanese Group studying Hakomi in Mandarin, an informal group visiting from the Thai Ministry of Public Health, another from the Ministry of Education, a group of professional students from Portland, Oregon, and another led by Maika Endo (hand raised) on the last night of her first ‘Chiang Mai Wellness Pilgrimage.’ In the bottom left photo Homprang is preparing the table for a French group participating in Christian Barou’s third ‘Sèjour de Bien Etre.’ (The photo most like our everyday-table is the one with the students from Portland, Oregon — there are just 10 in this group, and it’s lunch so there are mats instead of a table cloth.)

Some Honest Advice On Visas

  • Keep it simple and apply for the TOURIST VISA on ARRIVAL.
  • Visit the website of the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in your own country and follow their instructions carefully. Ignore anything else you read or anyone else tells you, particularly if they have applied at another time or from a different country, or are traveling to Thailand for some other purpose than to study with us.
  • The current TOURIST VISAS on ARRIVAL are easy and generous — you can get a full 60 days  as a start, plenty to take 2 of our shorter courses or even one of our longest, 25 day courses. And if you need a 30 day Extension we’ll take you to Chiang Mai Immigration ourselves where you can apply for it and have it done in an hour — that’s  3 months, enough for a whole Series!
  • There are other options too but they are more complicated and also more expensive. You must apply to your country’s Royal Thai Embassy for one of these.
